To work in GoHighLevel, Claude needs to be signed in as you. People reasonably want to know what that means for their login. Here's how it works.
The sign-in, step by step
The first time you use it, Claude asks you to sign in to GoHighLevel:
- You give your GoHighLevel email and password.
- If your login has more than one agency, you pick which one.
- GoHighLevel sends you a one-time code, and you give that code to Claude.
That's the same sign-in you'd do on the GoHighLevel website, including the one-time code. You can also sign in from the My GoHighLevel MCP platform instead of from Claude; it ends up in the same place.
What happens to your password
Your password is only used to complete the sign-in with GoHighLevel. Claude is instructed never to store or repeat it, and passwords and codes are replaced with "redacted" before anything reaches the Activity log.
After sign-in, what's kept is a GoHighLevel session, not your password. Sessions are stored encrypted on our servers.
Sessions are personal
Every person signs in with their own GoHighLevel login. There's no shared agency password passed around the team. This has real benefits:
- GoHighLevel's permissions still apply. Claude can only see what your GoHighLevel user can see.
- The log names the right person. Every request is recorded against the person who asked.
- Leaving is clean. When someone leaves, you disable them on the Team page and their access ends.
How long a session lasts
GoHighLevel sessions refresh on their own while they're in use, so you won't be asked to sign in every day. If a session does expire, for example after a long break, Claude will tell you and you sign in again with your password and a new code.
Signing out
You can ask Claude to sign you out of GoHighLevel at any time. An admin can also sign a person out of every Claude connection from the Team page. If your organisation is deleted, every GoHighLevel sign-in is ended straight away.
Payment details are different
Claude never asks for card details. When a payment is needed, it gives you a secure Cashfree payment link to open in your browser.
Good practice
- Use a strong, unique GoHighLevel password, and keep the one-time code step on.
- Never paste your password anywhere except the sign-in step.
- If you think a login has been exposed, change the password in GoHighLevel. Any existing session can then be signed out from Claude or the Team page.
